About me

Victor S. Serpa

Full stack developer with three years of experience in JavaScript and TypeScript, most at home on the front end. I work with React, Next.js and React Native on the interface and Node.js on the API, delivering e-commerce platforms, corporate portals and apps that run in production. I am comfortable connecting those applications to the systems a company already uses, such as ERPs and payment providers. I care about code that is still easy to change six months later, and about working close to the people who use the product.

Throughout my career, I have worked on complete projects, dealing with complex business rules, integrations between systems and applications that require stability, performance and code organization. I focus on writing clear, easy-to-maintain solutions aligned with the team. I value good practices such as automated tests, continuous integration, well-structured architecture and collaboration in agile environments. I like to understand the problem before proposing a solution and believe that technology makes the most sense when it solves real problems.

Beyond coding, I'm active in my community: I volunteer at my church and enjoy sharing knowledge with the people around me. I develop personal projects out of passion and am always close to family and friends, doing what I can to help.

I worked on five products for different clients, front end and back end, all of them in production.

  • Built an entire e-commerce platform from scratch in Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma and MySQL: storefront, admin panel and API, with card checkout through Cielo, PIX payments with automatic discount, free shipping rules, stock control with back-in-stock alerts, PWA support and around 500 tests in Jest and Vitest.
  • Delivered three web portals for an industrial client (customer, sales and carrier) in React over a Node.js, Express and PostgreSQL API, totaling over 130 REST endpoints, including return invoice validation against the client's SoftExpert system.
  • Wrote the MFA for those portals using TOTP: encrypted secrets, two step login, trusted devices by cookie, a management screen for the client's IT team and an audit log.
  • Developed a second e-commerce platform with a multi store admin, covering product combos with quantity based pricing and delivery and pickup scheduling with exception days.
  • Built a self service kiosk app in React Native, with card and PIX payments, NFC-e and receipt printing, order notifications over WhatsApp and auditing of every ERP call.
  • Shipped guest checkout with reCAPTCHA and the technical SEO (sitemap, metadata and prerendering) for the Chilean e-commerce operation.
  • Acted as the direct technical contact for clients, from requirements gathering through to acceptance.
